hi Guys! Which zigbee receiver can you recommend for a multi-storey building? my nuc with HA is in the basement and i’m worried about the reception.
One of these and enough Zigbee devices on mains (bulbs, sockets, switches).
Zigbee is a meshed network, it’s about density, not transmission power.
Just get any of the recommended ones and make sure there are enough devices with router capabilities in your zigbee network. Zigbee is mesh and intended to work this way. No use in getting an ultimate receiver able to reach any device but your far away devices never reach it back… I use Slaesh and am very happy with it.
Definitely agree with the other posters - I think any of the CC2652 chip models will work from that link. I use the zzh stick from that list and it works very well, and comes with a nice antenna.
I didn’t personally go with the slaesh stick because I’ve seen complaints about their communication and people never receiving it, but anyone that actually gets it seems happy with it.
The sonoff seems to be the most widely available, but if going with sonoff, they have two versions. Make sure you get the “P” version that is based on the cc2652 chip.
I originally had the cheaper cc2531, and there is a reason it is “not recommended”, so definitely avoid those.
Thank you for your answers!
I chose SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus, TI CC2652P + CP2102(N).
I was going to put motion detectors on the stairs anyway. hopefully they will expand my mesh.
Only mains powered devices will expand the mesh, unfortunately, battery powered devices will not repeat a signal.
