Need help with diagnosing increasing storage size

Hi,

since I think around the last update run (with HA2021.11 and OS 6.6) I noticed a change in the growth rate of storage size on the SSD:

I know that currently everything is fine wrt. free space, but still I think this pattern change has to be caused by something and having this growth rate the available space will finally become rather low in the forseeable future.

I run Google Drive Backup each 2 days, but the activity of the graph does not exactly point to something that happens every 2 days…

Does anyone have an idea how I could diagnose the system to narrow down the cause? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

same here, found lot of debug in journal files, could be the point, not sure

I know now at least that it is connected to Host restart; then the data is seems to be purged, whatever it is exactly:

(Host restart on Nov. 13 in the evening)

I guess I will stop/restart each container one by one to see the actual trigger.

Waiting and doing nothing sometimes pays off… after some of the numerous updates of HassOS, Core itself and almost all Addons, everything’s again fine now…

Hi! Did you ever manage to figure out what caused this? It’s started happening for me since yesterday

Hello there,

nope, I never found the reason. I guess it is some docker container temp data (logging perhaps?) that due to Reasons™ started to fill up the hard drive. This data is pruned from time to time (host restart or container recreation or something like that). I planned to install some container management addon (portainer I think) and to disable/recreate/restart each container individually (each one that is not required to access the UI, that is) to find the culprit. But as I wrote in my last post, the problems suddenly just disappeared and everything is totally fine now. I don’t know if this is connected to a OS or core or addon update or if something in my infrastructure (a “bad” entity) was the reason.

Same for me 🫣
but an update solved it.
