Let’s say your HA IP is 192.168.1.100 and you have another sub-net say a 10.10.10.0/24. The router is a basic service provider unit.
Should HA be able to successfully ping 10.10.10.4 ?
Thank you in advance for any advice you can provide.

If there is a route provided to get there, otherwise no. So Depends.

They are on the same physical network. With the basic router/ont I don’t think there is a provision to edit or add routes.
If you have 2 IP address ranges trying to talk on the same subnet all bets are off.
Nothing is going to work right.
So if one was able to make a change to the routing table would that be enough and can that be done on the HA/Pi’s routing table or does it need to be the main system router.
I am trying to determine if the ont/router has any option for this sort of advanced tweaking.
First of all, if you have a small home network, you most likely do not need 2 subnets or VPN’s to split your stuff up. It certainly can be done, but you are asking questions here that tell me that you definitely should not be doing it. You do not understand it.
Second if you want to do it, the 10. stuff has to be on it’s own separate part of the network than the 192. stuff. They cannot be connected to the same hubs. If you have a segmented switch, you can plug them into the same switch but the ports have to be programmatically separate. Then these separate networks are fed separately to the firewall, There routing decisions are made. Who can talk to what.
If that is sounding foreign to you, just use a simple subnet until you take a networking class and understand what you want to do and if you need to do it.
Thank you very much for taking the time to help.
I will try to explain what my purpose was for the questions. I had framed them in the simplest way I could think of. My real goal is to be able to ping with the HA integration the Wireguard clients that use the 10.10.10.0/24 network.
I used to do this on a PPTP tunnel and it worked well. I would get a notification from Homeseer that the tunnel was in use. However the PPTP server was just a reseved set of IPs on the same subnet as HS.
Anyone have any idea how to get this done ?
