Negative Value on Initial Read with Smart Meter Texas?

I added the Smart Meter Texas integration today and added the sensor to the energey dashboard configuration. When I checked a few hours later, data has been flowing in but the first reading was negative so even though there is additional data for each subsequent hour, the current energy reading is still negative.

Is this normal? If not, is there something I can do about it?

developer-tools/statistics → adjust sum

You can zero out the negative value.

I guess you mean update the value of sensor.electric_meter_16nnnnnnnn to 0. I assume that would basically the utility meter sensors staying from now. What if I update the current value to subtract the original negative value?

In the dialog I suggested you can edit past values. If you go to the time when that was created there should be a large negative datapoint. You can change that to 0.
