I was struggling to get my Nest Thermostat working on Ubuntu with firewall enabled. Until I noticed that the outgoing port 8553 mentioned in the documentation doesn’t work (https://home-assistant.io/components/nest/).
According to this port it should be port 9553: https://nestdevelopers.io/t/firebase-api-port/1061
