On the nest component site it says to make sure outbound port 9553 is open. Is that the port on my router? Or my windows 10 machine? Or my Mac? Or my pi running hassio? I’m confused. Thanks in advance.

It’s referring to your router, and it should work without issue. The warning is there for people who restrict outbound access from their network.

I can’t get it to work. So what I did is I have looked up the IP address of my nest thermostat e.g. 192.168.2.109 and set it to static.
Next went to my router and open port 9553.
Reboot modem and router but at the end the port is still not open. All the others work like a charm.
