As the title suggests, integrate Nest Secure Alarm. Hass would be able to disarm/arm the alarm etc. Unfortunately it’s very new and I can’t even program this in IFTTT.
We might have to wait a little as the Nest Secure API isn’t available.
Most definitely will need to wait. Just wanted to get this on the books sooner than later
I want this device just to use the siren / keypad component. I wish there was a z-wave equivalent.
You can find them on eBay fairly cheap. I ended getting a brand new starter kit with nest indoor camera for $265. You just need to check daily
OK for those using Google Homes, Google finally released voice support for the Nest Guard. So a step closer we are
Is there a indication of a API for the Guard?
From what I understand yet but not sure how far they are.
Im new to IoT and home automation.
I live in the netherlands and moving soon. Is there a cheap alternatief way of security for my home. The option of having tags was super for my kids. And this started as a hobby but now im going all out
It seems that this will never be possible.
Here is what Nest Staff says:
Disarming a security system through a public API is not something that is added lightly, because it is a security risk. Not even the Google Home integration with Nest Secure is allowed to do so (you can only arm it by voice).
I get the concept of disarming but why not everything else? Arming, checking status of the base, checking the sensors, etc.
Well somewhat great news! Apparently the security status is now available in the API Someone just needs to right the code?
NO, that is NOT for Nest Secure. See my PR: https://github.com/home-assistant/home-assistant/pull/14901
Darn, you’re right!
Any update on this? Would love to use the Nest Secure as my HA Alarm hub for disarming alarm when arriving home.
I wish, still waiting on Google.
Nice feature.
Now that it seems google killed the Nest Secure, it’s time to find new solutions. this time something that integrates into Home Assistant. - possibly Home Assistant itself now that there’s support for tags/RFID readers.
