Nest thermostat configuration

I recently got started with home assistant and am quickly becoming to like it more and more. I’ve already integrated my Vera z-wave gateway and home brew ESP8266 sensors into it, and I am now trying to integrate my nest thermostat.

I followed the guide on https://home-assistant.io/components/nest/ and got to the point where I had to generate a pin code. One strange thing I noticed is that on the nest authorization page I saw 2 thermostats, one “owned by me” and one “not owned by me”. As far as I know I only ever had one Nest, so not sure where those 2 came from. Anyhow, after selecting either one or both devices, I got a pincode that I could enter in home assistant.

After doing that, nothing happened, I didn’t get any new devices on the dev states pages or any new widget anywhere. I also restarted HA, but that didn’t do anything either. I’ve also removed the generated nest.conf file and tried selecting just one of the devices on the authorization page, but that didn’t do anything either.

Am I missing a configuration step somewhere? or is there anything else I’m doing wrong?

figured the problem out. Apparently, my own nest account had access to the Nest thermostat, since it was shared with me by my girlfriend, but I did now actually “own” the thermostat. After retrying with the account of my girlfriend (that does apparently “own” the thermostat) it works like a charm.
