Nest trigger when AC/heat kicks on

I poked through the Nest component and did some searching and didn’t see it, so I thought I’d ask: is there a way to listen for Nest actions? I see lots of ways to direct the Nest thermostat, but none that trigger when the Nest does something itself.

I’m looking to automatically turn up my Sonos soundbar when my AC kicks on (it’s crazy loud).

So far I’ve been unable to find any home library that has “on” triggers like I’d need. Ideas?

Can you use the mode as a trigger? There is a bit of a delay with the best sometimes though as it is cloud polled.

Not sure. Is “mode” just cool/heat/eco/etc? If so, that doesn’t change when it kicks on. Is there some kind of status I can check?

Check the senors created, check the docs, you may enable it in your config.

I have a sensor ( sensor.downstairs_thermostat_hvac_state ) that reports “heating” “cooling” etc when my hvac runs.
