Can anybody help me out with this problem i have. I have installed Home Assistant in my Workshop to control my Cameras. Lighting. Heating.
The problem is i can access the Home Assistant Server on my mobile phone only when i am in the workshop. I cannot access it anywhere else.
I assume outside of your workshop you are no longer on the same LAN as HA? Have you done anything to actually set up remote access?
There really is no way to help since you haven’t given any pertinent info on your set up or how you are trying to access HA.
Yes this is correct i am not on the same Lan as Ha.
As far as the remote access no.
How would i be able to do this.
The setup is as first posted message.
The products i am using are ( X2 WavLink AC600 High Power WiFi Outdoor AP/Repeaters ) i have set these up as a ( Bridge ) inside the Workshop i have also got a TP-Link TL-WA901ND Wireless N Access Point.
The problem is to do with the ( iP Address ) the Home Assistant is set at ip: 192.168.10.
Is this info any better for you.
Thanks
The easiest way is to sign up for Nabu Casa and use that for remote access. It isn’t free (US$6.50 per month) but it supports HA and is very easy to get set up.
Otherwise you need to set up port forwarding on your router to allow the phone app to connect to the IP:port of the HA machine.
NOTE: this isn’t safe. It opens up your network to outside potential hackers.
There are things you can do to minimize the risk (reverse proxy, VPN, etc) but that is beyond the scope of this post.
You can do searches on the forum or look at the docs to get started.
Thanks for your info. I think the only way i can do it is to get it hard wire from my router.
Some other people must have had this problem.
Thanks
Peter
You can make remote connection with tailscale. It vpn addon. You need to register with them for account. It’s free for few devices and it’s easy to set it up. You don’t have to open any ports ot do anything on the router side. And as said nabu casa cloud access.
Thanks Daniel.
I will have a look into it now.
