I have just installed Home Assistant in my Office/Workshop.
The problem is that i can only login to the Home Assistant when in side the Office. The connection to the Office is not direct to my route which is inside my house. So i have to use wifi repeaters x2.
1 of the repeaters is connected direct to the router which is fitted to the back of the house. The second 0ne is fixed to the Office this is the only way i can get access to the internet as there is no other way of getting a BT cable to the Office.
Can you lay a twisted pair network cable?
A cat5e should be able to do 100m.
You repeaters are set up how?
It sounds like you are using the repeaters as a WiFi bridge, but ai might be wrong, which means they might be running as separate repeaters.
Are you sure they are repeaters and not routers?
Hi Wally.
They are Wavlink High Power WiFi Outdoor AP/Repeaters x2.
Model : WL-WN570HA1 AC600
I have set these up as a Bridge is this the wright way to do it.
Like i said in my first post i have x2 as i cannot get a cable to my workshop.
I should have done the cable from my router when i was doing the Mains Supply.
So i had to try this root. One repeater is hard wire to my router which is on the back of my house, the other is on my workshop.
Hi Wally.
I have just checked my Repeater which is on the back of my house also hard wire to my BT Hub router.
In my setup it shows it set as a Repeater.
I agree with @WallyR . It seems that your ‘repeaters’ are configured as routers and therefor create a separate network behind the original instead of extending the original one.
If you login to the webinterface of both repeaters, make sure that it is set to Repeater mode or Lan Bridge mode. This way it should extend the network.
What are the internal IP addresses of your Home assistant machine in your Office/Workshop and the IP address of the machine you are trying to connect from when are you in your house?
Just to be sure… Do you have another BT Router on the other site?
Could you draw a diagram? Something like:
Office place with Home Assistant machine <–> Router <–> Repeater <–> Repeater <–> Router <–> Home with home pc ?
Hi MichielP.
Thanks for your reply.
I have checked both units the one connected to the BT Hub direct was not set for Repeater.
Thanks Again for your help.
Well pleased now.
