Network setup choices

Hi All just after advise on pointing me in the right direction please. It’s in regards to network advise

I have a RPI 3b+ running stretch and hassio in a docker container. The RPI connects to my openwrt router which has a mobile sim card in it for internet access. MY RPi connects to the router via ethernet cable and all my tasmota devices connect to the router over WIFI for network connection. However when i lose internet i also seem to lose local control of my devices and have to reboot the router to regain connection.

So the question is. How should i set up the RPI ? does it need to be a VLAN, access point with a bridge ? WLAN ? or what ever, so that if i lose internet i still have local control… until the internet comes back ?

I’m just looking for direction to look into and i can then go and research it, as all the network abbreviations at the moment are just confusing me

cheers for the direction

I have recently written up how I have designed and set up my home network - maybe that helps you in your decisions:

This looks like an issue with the router to me. A lost of the internet connection should not affect the internal network.

that’s what i was thinking, however i’m not smart enough yet to diagnose it just yet  but perhaps i should look more into that side of things as well

for the moment i was trying to setup my RPI as a access point with a eth0 bridge to share the internet but having issues with getting that running at the moment also

thanks i’ll check it out
