Network Share - Backups to macOS

I have migrated my Home Assistant Green to a NUC using the backup option in Home Assistant .

All good.

I would like to have Home Assistant create its backups on another disk and not the one it is sunning on.

So spent a day trying to setup Home Assistant Network Storage to put backups on my macOS computer which has a large amount of disk space free 30TB odd.

Created a SMB share on the macOS - and created a Share User hassbu and a temporally simple pwd.

On another Mac I can run smb://[email protected]/hassbu in a browser and it opens Finder and mounts the SMB

SO trying to use same settings in Home Assistant Add Network Storage

And it fails.

I am unsure how in macOS you check logs for mount or systemd anyone got any suggestions?

Hi, I solved a similar problem. I ended up using the NFS manager application for macos, which creates an NFS server for sharing. And set up HA network storage to choose NFS protocol and redirected to path in macos…

I got SMB working but required the device admin creds, need to find a better and will try the way you suggest.

Thanks

Yeah, smb does work… but as usual with apple. They always have to have something different, generally setting up SMB for mac with longer connect is often a problem with drop and speed… For larger files NFS is recommended…
