I added a new Fibaro smart plug FGWPB-121 yesterday. Z-Wave JS seemed to hang the first time (taking tens of minutes before I canceled it), but on the second attempt it found the device very quickly.
Unfortunately it shows as an unknown manufacturer and device. So while I can get at basic entities and turn the switch on and off, I can’t get to device-specific entities, like the USB power utilization.
I checked the Z-Wave JS database and the FGWPB-121 is definitely there, so it should be recognized.
Note that the device shows as FW: v4.1. Maybe I should update the firmware?
Here too the device has manufacturer and Model “unknown”. I can see the entities, but I can’t configure the device.
Where do you click ‘Advanced’? In which screen? I can’t find that anywhere.
Go to the Z-Wave JS Control Panel, click on the row where the “Unknown” device is located, then click the Advanced button that appears on the right and side. When the Advanced page comes up, click “Re-interview Node”.
I hope that helps.
As a follow up to my original problem, I’ve found this plug to be unreliable. It will work for weeks, or days, then fall off the network. Sometimes I can ping it from the Z-Wave JS Control Panel and it will wake up. More often than not I have to unplug and replug it.
The Z-Wave JS statistics show dropped commands and timeouts. I don’t have these issues with any other Z-Wave device. The plug is 32 feet from the Z-Wave dongle, much closer than many other devices I have that never have communication problems.
Their support has been responsive, but the plug just doesn’t work reliably. I’m going to get a replacement and hope for the best.
