Moving from Vera/z-wave to an HA install and I’d like some feedback on my plan Here is the layout:
- 2500sq ft house, existing Vera with some z-wave locks and switches
- 7500sq ft shop that needs some new door locks, switches and sensors, 200ft from the house
- A point-to-point 5GHz (Ubiquiti) radio link from the house to the shop is already in place
- The house and shop are on the same LAN/subnet.
I plan to use the Home Assistant Green with a z-wave USB controller located at the house. For the Shop, I plan to use a zigbee to Ethernet POE device. The reason for zigbee in the shop is I don’t see any z-wave to Ethernet POE devices out there - at least not like what’s available for zigbee.
I might be able to get away with z-wave long range from the house to the shop, but I don’t see any door locks that are z-wave long range. Maybe that’s a battery thing?
So the equipment list looks something like this:
Home Assistant Green
SLZB-06 zigbee POE (Zigbee2mqtt)
Zooz 800 Series Z-Wave Long Range S2 USB Stick ZST39 LR/Xiwai USB mount (zwavejs2mqtt)
Lastly, can anyone recommend a zigbee deadbolt lock that is outdoor rated? I don’t need a key as there is access to the shop via another door that is rarely used and that one will be just a plain old deadbolt.
Thanks
Gary
