New Hue bulb gets wrong name

Hello,
I bought a new hue bulb that replaces a existing one in my lamp (wrong socket). So I renamed the old bulb in the hue app, add the new one and restart home assistant.

Unfortunately the new bulb only gets the original name from Philips (hue_candle_1) but not the name, which I renamed it to.

Home Assistant shows me the correct name as “friendly_name” but the entity name is (for me) wrong. Is it possible to name it correctly. Otherwise I had to check all automations and so on and replace the name.

Thx.

Click on the lamp in the frontend. In the popup click the settings button (cog, upper right) , change name, save.

if that happens, HA was faster than you in adding the light to its list of entities

most likely it will be added at the bottom of the entity_registry. Simply delete that and have HA re-enter it with its correct name at next boot.

Had the exact same thing ten minutes ago, never fails

entity_registry.yaml has been (re)moved. It is no longer desirable (or supported) to edit that file. You should do all of the renaming of those entities in the GUI.

im still on 75.3 should have mentioned that…

Definitely. Makes a BIG difference.

Lol, yes, at least i am still able to log in…
