New Installation help!

I’ve installed HA and booted to be greeted with a homepage CLI…

How do I access this? have wired both host n user pcs direct to router but no joy…

The homepage should show what web address it’s advertising itself on.

Default is http://homeassistant.local:8123

The cli homepage will also list by IP. So http://[ip]:8123

To add to Nathans post, you are not going to be able to access the HA GUI directly from your HA host.

Thanks but nope not working , yes am using another pc (wasn’t aware when 1st started installing) but heyho, nothing was built in a day worth keeping! Only wanted this to integrate Sonos n lights/plugs etc into 1 app but will continue to try over this weekend then delete n reuse pc for something else if nothing works.

We can help you troubleshoot this but you need to provide more info.

  • how did you install HA?
  • What is the IP of HA?
  • What is the IP of the computer you are trying to access HA from?

Hi installed from USB via Ubuntu
How do I tell you IPs?
Sorry newbie on most of this IT stuff…

So Supervised?

The IP of HA should be shown in the screen you referred to in the first post. Not sure what OS you run on the device you are trying to connect with, if it’s Windows you can click Start → type CMD → Enter → ipconfig → find your IP there

And before you get too deep. If your new to 'all this it stuff. We would really suggest not that kind of install. It’s… Complex.

You’re probably better off with some version of HAOS.

Let’s step back. You have Linux. On what. (what hardware do you have available and what is your end goal) you’ll need some basics you don’t have before you start. Like what’s my computer IP address. What’s my network what are those things. Etc. So tell us what you started with and where you’re going and the community will be helpful.

So far we know you want HA. Realized you need to connect to it from off box and…

So fill us in on your actual hardware and whatever you do know about the network and we can help.

Lol… I thought this was a vaersion of HAOS I installed! Too complex for my little grey cells so I’ll give up now and look elsewhere, thanks to those that replied n tried to help.

HAOS as the name implies is an operating system, so you need to either install it as a virtual machine or on bare metal. You shouldn’t give up this easy though
