New Installation - New user and errors right at the gates - Ubuntu 18 - Supervisor errors

Hi Team,
Let me start in saying I am very green to HA and have been avoiding it for some time and just running with Tuya due to the fact that I didnt want to step into a unholy war of code error but I took the leap and crap straight in the head things dont work like above.
I can integrate my Tuya devices, generic cameras, other household devices no problems but the moment I try to update HA I get " Failed to call service update / install. Error updating home assistant core unknown error see Supervisor" ,
when I try any addon I get “Failed to install add-on Unkown error, see supervisor”
HA version is 2022.8.7
Supervisor is 2023.04.01
Frontend is 20220802.0

Any help would be so much appreciated I would like to move forward with HA but at the moment I cant do anything and even trying to update via Docker returns Supervisor errors
PC - Running Ubuntu 18.04.6 LTS
16 gig ram
Intel i5 2.5GHz x4
64bit

HA supervised?

This installation method has very strict requirements, for example, it only supports Debian (and Ubuntu, Armbian, Raspberry Pi OS are not supported). So, make sure you understand the requirements from step 1 above.

You can try the following installation method (allows fully supported HAOS installation alongside anything else Ubuntu supports):

The official instructions come with many warnings to discourage use, including:

This method is considered advanced and should only be used if one is an expert in managing a Linux operating system, Docker and networking.

Sadly if you follow third party guides you’ll likely get told it’s the best thing since the invention of sliced bread. It’s not, it’s a trap.

I’d 100% recommend using either HAOS if you want add-ons, or Container if you’re comfortable with Docker.

What Tinkerer says.

The fact that you are running a 10 month old HA on a 5 years old Ubuntu seems to suggest that you should use HAOS for your ease.

Cheers all for your reply much appreciated, I ended pulling the HDD out and flashing generic x86 to it and then I just access the GUI via mobile or other laptops so far it’s stable and working great. Now to flask around 80 items over to smart life.
