New Project Hardware Recommendations

I would like to build a 10" touchscreen for my AV room where I can have a dashboard that will turn my system (StormAudio MK3 processor, Apple TV 4K, and Sony TV) on and off… or turn on/off Kaleidescape. Lights on/off (Lutron Casetta)… a few buttons to control these devices.

I’d also like to have 2-4 camera thumbnails to view certain cameras.

Before I even get into this… is it possible to have all these buttons on a dashboard that will stay lit/open for viewing 24/7?

My thoughts are to get something like this 10" touchscreen on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Touchscreen-1920-1200-touchscreen-Dual-Speaker/dp/B0D66WTB24 … along with the Pi 5 and run Home Assistant.

Am I dreaming… or is this doable?

Thanks!

Just use a COTS tablet, and the companion app

Depends. Are you aware that HA runs on a headless server? This means you can’t connect a monitor to the server and expect to see your dashboard there. All you’ll see if a few lines of code on a black screen.

Do what @koying suggested - first, get HA up and running on any device (Pi, old PC, half-chewed potato etc.), then get a tablet and use its browser or HA companion app or Fully Kiosk to use that as your wall mounted display.
