New to HA - it’s causing my eero network to completely drop out

Hi,

I have just set up a new raspberry pi running HAOS, and have been getting to grips with it.

Loving the journey - but I am seeing huge problems with my network, with WiFi connected devices becoming unusable.

I have an eero mesh network, with the gateway eero connected to a BT router. I have tried setting the eero network to manual IP mode so it’s definitely not clashing with the BT router, I have tried bridge mode, and DHCP.

I have tried to give the Pi a static IP.

The pi also connects to the network over an unmanaged switch connected to the eero network.

I am pretty sure it’s only WiFi which is affected because hard wired devices appear to continue as normal.

I am really excited to get using my dashboard - but really frustrated that I have to keep turning off the Pi!

If anyone has any suggestions I’d be very grateful!

When u say BT router, are u saying that your modem or router is Bluetooth capable?

I have eero too and just recently upgraded to the newest WiFi 7 routers (2 routers). That’s when the issue began for me. However, it seems like my whole network drops for a minute or 2 every couple of days.

I’d advise making everything statistic on your eero network, then after a week or so do the same on your device running HAOS. For awhile I had my Pi hardwired ethernet and the WiFi connected to the my guest network (so that guests could see my setup without seeing the rest of my devices) and that seemed to work pretty well.

Another option might be to make your wireless connection static with eero and let your hardwired static within HA?

I also have the Home Assistant Blue. It’s light years better than the Pi for me, even without having the WiFi capability. I’ve been running them side by side for a couple of years now. 1 production (HASS Blue), 1 tester (Pi).

Anyway, hope that helps!

@benjgray84 did you ever get it working? this is exactly what is happening with mine. albeit it’s my first day. raspberryPi5, external SSD, connected to a dumb switch that has a printer, a PC, and the main EERO router plugged into it. I will keep looking for information, but has anyone seen this and beat it? Cheers.
