Hi, I try to setup a Sonoff E dongle with a raspberry, but I cant get it to work without error.
I’m confused by the steps to follow concerning addons to install and what to do with the SONOFF configuration
Anyone could point me to an up to date tutorial when starting from scratch please?

? it’s what i followed.
if that’s not doing it for you, post more specifics about what errors or symptoms you’re seeing.
I think I picked some parts of this one yes, but i’s old (2022), I heard that to create a second MQTT user with MQTT password is not needed anymore, he don’t seems to talk about “adapter: ember” that I can see in other videos, that why I looked for a more up to date tuto.
But if it’s proved working, I will give it a shot and restart from scratch on this one, if Zigbee2MQTT module fail to autostart at launch again with its load of errors maybe it’s just a faulty part
Z2m is good software. I’m assuming it’s a config error.
In the above screenshot you show the sonoff zigbee dongle is recognized but it’s ZHA that is recognizing it. Turn off ZHA and retry setting up z2m.
We would need to know what specific errors are being thrown to narrow it down.
I think you nailed something, I always though this “new hardware” pop up notif was the dongle that needed to finish its installation, when in fact it seems to be ZHA trying to install itself over Z2M, braking it…
That could explain this kind of message I get every times:
Errors logs was various and different every time, from what I recall they looked like :
EmberStatus.LIBRARY_NOT_PRESENT:
z2m: Error: ERROR_WRONG_DIRECTION
The one I saw the most was talking about “herdsman”
z2m: Error: Failed to start EZSP layer with status=HOST_FATAL_ERROR (this one maybe I picked a wrong baudrate FW)
But not relevant anymore I think, if I didn’t made things right in first place.

Still a small CRC error, but now at least Z2M start alone on HA startup
