Newbie help - Music Assistant - Onkyo Receiver

Understood but does that mean i have to have two separate steps to use this setup? i thought i can just have everything under one card to manage the music playing. I have not made any other changes besides adding the config to have the host value and as i said there is now only one card from which i can turn on/off the amplifier and also increase/decrease the volume but still i can’t play music.

You will need to cards or make your own combined one maybe.
I have a somewhat similar setup with snapcast, where many of the functions do not make sense in the media player card, so I have a traditional mini media player for the music player and then a home-made card for the snapcast with just mute, volume up and volume down.

ok, do you know how to combine a card or make the connections happen among various buttons and scripts? I cant seem to find a guide which walks through the steps.

You can put cards into vertical or horizontal stacks and they will get hooked together.
You can have vertical and horizontal cards inside each other, so a vertical stack with the mini media player and a stack card below.
The stack below is then a horizontal stack with 3 button cards for play, backward and forward.

If you want to use scripts, then the button cards have tap actions.

Have you added the Onkyo as a player to MA ?

Thought, I’d test this for you and it works

okay, i’ll continue to play around but it seems like MA has issues trying to play media which is shared via a remote fileshare and somehow that is screwing up everything.

It also seems that MA is trying to generate ID3 tags everytime the container is restarted…i wish it was possible to just turn off ID3 tags…
