Newbie question - does Mac book needs to run all time/

Hello I am newbie to Home assistance. I want to connect my Mi Gateway, Logitec Harmony and Kasa (TP link ) smart switch without Alexa or Google home.

I am thinking of installing Home assistant on my MacBook but I do not know if that means I need to keep my laptop switch on all the time. Can someone please confirm this? Also if you have a guidance on connecting Mi Hub, Logitec Harmony and Kasa switche, than that would be awesome.

Yes you need it on all the time.
