First - yes, I’m a rookie, so I apologize for not knowing anything about Home Assistant or having any experience with this forum whatsoever… I am way over my expertise here, but I’m crazy stubborn. I have no experience in Linux, Virtual Machines, Home Assistant, Yaml, Python… I just have a wish - to be able to say to my Google Assistant “Play [spotify playlist] on my Genelecs”. The only way this seem to be done is by using Home Assistant that have a Spotify Integration + Google Home, so it should be possible… I rolled up my sleeves and figured out how to install Ubuntu on an old Macbook Pro + VM with Home Assistant 23.2.3. Like a blind man following tutorials out there like a sheep, I just stumbled on my first problem where I need to know what-the-hell-Im-doing.
I failed to install the Spotify-integration-thingie, and I have googled my issue so hard that Google is about to block me. The solutions presented is as clear to me as penetrating a brick wall using a piece of strawberry gum. No stubbornness in the world will help me here—only real people who know this stuff for real.
During the installation process, I filled in that required URI, my developer Client_id and that Secret key (don’t remember exactly, but you know what I mean). But then, I get the dreaded “URI call-back not blabla” something… So I tried to install it again, but as soon as I select Spotify from the list of brands it immediately continues the installation from the same point in the process. And there was no way to check or edit the URI.
So I deleted and created a new Spotify Developer App-thing, just to shake it up and maybe let me edit the info in HA…
Nops. Now I get “INVALID_CLIENT: Failed to get client” instead. And this sounds reasonable, since I have the old info. But it don’t help me to edit this info.
So I guess I need to edit some config-file somewhere, and started to google like a maniac again, and got familiar with the configuration.yaml via File editor. But that doesn’t contain anything regarding installation of Spotify.
I have found many suggestions on solutions out there (here), but they all refer to changing in some config file that I cannot find.
I just want to delete the Spotify-installation-process-thing and try from scratch… But that’s on a way to simple level of support so this cannot be found anywhere.
Maybe here?
I know I have written WAY to long for this topic. Sorry.
