I am trying to add Wyoming protocol, piper and whisper for voice but no add-on selection anywhere to be found. Created a long-lived token but lost from here. Did not know Home assistant was for developers only. I have searched for days with no help or success.
What installation method have you used?
Also, phrases like this are completely unnecessary. Just ask for help. Thanks.
i have installed this on Ubuntu 22.04 directly. my current hardware devices (outlets) are working fine. I wanted to add voice assist but having issues.
You installed Home Assistant Core directly to ubuntu? If yes, Core does not support addons.
The only installation methods that support addons are Home Assistant OS or Home Assistant Supervised
I thought I was installing HA OS not core. Is there a way I can fix this? Or know I am installing HA OS? I installed from the app section of my Ubuntu OS should I reinstall from HA home page?
You can’t install Home Assistant OS on an existing OS. It’s either Home Assistant OS or Ubuntu.
You can attempt to virtualize Home Assistant OS in Ubuntu.
All these options have walk throughs on the installation page.
Going the HomeAssistant OS route will require you to write an image onto whatever hard drive you’re using and it will replace whatever data is currently on that hard drive.
I have no problem to write a new image to my disk. I will try anf find an .iso from the installation page and rebuild my HA.
Thanks for your help!
What hardware is running this?
I am running this on a home made server system with 250 Gig hard drive.
If you plan to run just HA on that server, then this is the home assistant installation tutorial you want to follow
If you want to run other things, outside the HA echo system. I recommend getting a stand alone server to run HA or try to virtualize it on your current system.
The easiest installation route by far is the home assistant hardware (Green or Yellow), raspberry pi, or an odriod.
All other installation methods require some elbow grease.
Excellent! I will use that guide and continue. any other advice?
Nope! Have fun
Thank you for your quick and helpful reply, you are awesome!
