It is gone from the sidebar for starters, but I don’t think that’s the problem. I have been using the integration for years with no problems, but I just inherited a few switches and tried to add them. When I use the configuration it thinks I’m trying to add another instance of the modem.
When using add entry:
“This integration allows only one configuration
Insteon supports only one configuration. Adding additional ones is not needed.”
When using add devices
“Insteon
single_instance_allowed”
When I try to reinstall the integration:
" This integration allows only one configuration
Insteon supports only one configuration. Adding additional ones is not needed."
to add an insteon device, you go to settings>devices & services click on the insteon integration icon. you’ll now be looking at the insteon integration. click on the little “gear” icon in the top right part of the window. this will take you over to the area where you can actually see and configure the insteon-specific aspects of your existing devices and also add a new insteon device. if you click “add device” in this window, you’ll get a pop-up dialog for adding a new insteon (or X10) device. you can either enter the insteon address (six hex characters in the form “hh.hh.hh”) or you can just tell it to go into add device mode, then press the set button on the device.
side note: in this dialog that pops up, for the last several months, i’ve been having an issue where button at the bottom of the window that that you click to actually start the device-add process is not visible. if you hover the mouse over it, you can see a faint “shadow” of the button, allowing you to work around this bug. it has been reported to the integration developer.
Thanks for this. I do not have a gear icon. I have 3 dots, nothing good in there, and I have add device but as we stated, that wants to add a modem. I got it to work though and it was pretty easy. By simply linking the switches to the modem and modem to the switches, they then showed up as devices in the list. I didn’t even need to know the hex or addresses. If you could, screen shot yours showing the gear icon.
I’m wondering is I have a corrupt installation of the integration. I’m not going to mess with it. I am selling the house and the new owner wants the HA. I replaced two X-10 switches with Insteon I got from my brother in law when he switched to Caseta. They weren’t getting the X-10 anymore anyway and they made the LED lights flicker. So 2 free Togglincs and I have everything working. Replacing them in my scenes and automations right now.
I can get to the add device popup. but there is no button, no shadow, no nothing. It is a DOA popup. I would wish that the integration developer would spend a small amount of time fixing this problem. As it stands, I can’t add an Insteon device to Home Assistant. - Jon
