I’ll admit it: this 50-year-old dad thinks farts are hilarious. So, for April Fools I downloaded 19 of the best farts that a 10 minute google search could find (come to find out there are a great many downloadable fart sounds on the internets) - used Node Red to play a random fart through various Sonos speakers based on a number of triggers. Turn on the kitchen lights and boom, random fart in the kitchen. Open the front door? That’s right, living room fart. Walk into the garage? Yup - garage fart. Heck - are you a person walking up to the front door? Enjoy a garage and living room fart. Ring my doorbell and you get an atomic garage, living room, and kitchen fart.
Only problem was waiting for 30 minutes for the wife to turn the kitchen lights on via the Inovelli switch - I had to turn them off 3 times and steal the kitchen tablet before that worked. Anyway, if you were wondering, here’s what a 19 fart randomized Node Red subflow looks like:
…and my open-door flow:
…and my (messy) Inovelli switch flow:
…and my motion sensor flow:
…and my camera/DeepStack person detection flow:
Farts are available here if you’re so inclined, and I’m happy to post related JSON if anyone’s interested. Otherwise, happy Fools Day friends.
