Hi all,
I’m relatively new to Home Assistant but I am enjoying the challenge and learning something new. At least it will be something to do with the upcoming long winter evenings!
I have a plan to have an simple Automation that turns the living room light on when the TV is turned on and it’s after sunset. Conversely, another one to turn off the light when the TV is turned off.
However, the TV ‘On’ setting is very noisy and gives both false positives and negatives.
This is from about 7PM til midnight yesterday.
I’ve searched on ‘debounce’ but I can’t see, or maybe understand, any suitable solutions.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Mark
What are you using to detect that the tv is “on”
Hello,
Thanks for the reply. It’s a good question and I am not sure of the answer. The notification has always been there as one of the devices. I assume it must be IP.
I have tried using the Bluetooth functionality of the TV but this appears always ‘On’ and also a Roku stick I have plugged in - which goes to ‘Idle’
I’m pretty sure it’s not a wifi issue as it’s only a few feet from an AP and also the spurious ‘On’ indication could not be explained.
