Hello everyone. I am new to HA and see that there are a lot of areas to post in. After searching for terms that I am interested in if I want to post questions and cannot figure out where to post, is there a general area? Can I post “where should I post a question about X” somewhere?

Just post it where you think it should go.
If it is completely wrong, then a moderator will move it to the proper section.
I think most users that answers posts on the forum look for through “new post” list and will pick up your question regardless where you post it.
+1, if it’s really in wrong section someone will move it at appropriate section 
don’t forget to give as much details as possible for your questions !
