I’m setting up my HA as a Thread Border Router. I’m running HAOS, have installed the OpenThread add-on and can see this in the Thread integration:
If I click on the i in a circle, I see that my network is using channel 15. I want to change this to 19 because, my existing Zigbee network uses 15. (is this a problem anyway?)
I have used the option to change channel but the channel shown in the i-circle does not change; however, the channel shown when trying to change channel now shows 19.
The HA Core will tell the OTBR to change channels, and the OTBR can change channels (I seem to recall after around a few seconds) on the fly without a reboot. However I’m unsure if HA core can actually pick up this change immediately or whether it needs to rediscover the change. Perhaps restarting OTBR and or HA should reflect the actual setting.
It should not. Both ZigBee and Thread use 802.15.4 “access methods” for sending and receiving packets. The only thing is that by having both ZigBee and Matter on the same channel is that there will now be more devices on the same channel so there will be more congestion versus having them on separate channels.
