Been thinking about this for a while now, but can’t come up with a viable concept
What I’m trying to achieve is the following:
- When I’m close to my phone - wherever that is in the house - my notifications are only delivered to my phone.
- When I’m not near my phone, the notifications are also sent as TTS to a tablet/dashboard that runs the Android Companion App.
The TTS for the notify.mobile_app is set up on the tablet already and working reliably so that I can hear it almost anywhere in the house.
When I’m at home, I mostly have my phone on me, but not always - I reliably do wear my Fitbit, though, and I have some room for a mid-size widget on my key chain which is always on me as well.
Anybody got any ideas on how to do that?
You will need an area-based tracking method like ESPresence or Bermuda for each device.
So, you think Bermuda should be able to detect my mobile phone and my Fitbit Inspire 3 separately, and I should be able to detect/calculate the distance between the two of them?
Just a quick follow-up:
I installed Bermuda, looks good overall, and it does work reliably with my Tile trackers.
But I can’t seem to be able to get it to work consistently with my Pixel 4a - it’s all over the place
And also, it only works with the Fitbit if it is NOT connected to a mobile phone - and the only two ways to disconnect the Fitbit from the phone are to a) either be far away from the phone or b) to turn Bluetooth off.
In order for a) to work as intended, I’d need a much bigger house.
And using approach b), of course, prevents me to locate the phone in the house at all.
The only other way to keep both devices separated would be to unpair the Fitbit from the phone, which kind of defeats the purpose of using a fitness tracker in the first place, plus it’s a pain in the neck to re-pair the two devices.
As long as I can’t get the phone tracking sorted out to work reliably, it’s not really a working approach anyway.
Not sure where to go from here.
