The folowing command works perfect with the Companion App, the first time when the app is still closed.
When the app is already active it doesn’t seem to work. Do I need to perform some sort of close action first?

It should work, tested it here with the app closed and open.
I have the same problem, HA companion app is 2023.12.5-full.
When the app is closed (running in background) it works fine, when it’s in foreground nothing happens. I tested it on three devices, all the same behavior. I know it worked in the past because i have a button using this command on my wall tablet.
