Novy remote control in HA using RFXTRX?

Hi guys, new on the block in HA. Currently using HA on a Pi (3b) with an RFXTRX433e connected to it.
Now I’ve got a Novy hood in my kitchen which should use the 433.92 mhz freq. But so far I am unable to read/find the signal.

Does anyone have an idea?

Best is to contact RFXCOM because Novy is not (yet) supported by the RFXtrx.

Hi,

Just got a Novy hood too.
If I understand correctly it seems it has been integrated last month

FW release 433_1040 12-08-2019
(…)

  • Novy extractor hood added

I’ve never played with RFXCOM.
Which transceiver should I buy if it’s compatible ?

Thx
Yann

The RFXtrx433E with Pro2 firmware and the RFXtrx433XL are able to control Novy.
Note that the RFXtrx433E is EOL and is replaced by the RFXtrx433XL.

Thx for the info.
I just bought it.

So, I received the RFXtrx433XL.
I launched the RFxmngr, enabled undec on & Byron SX/BY, SelectPlus.
Then, when I click on the remote, I can see data in RFXmngr.
When I go into Fan tab, select Novy, I can interact with the hood.

But when I reconnect the RFXtrx433XL into HA, and click on the remote, I get nothing in the log.
The switch doesn’t appear into the ui.

I can’t find what I’m missing.

First time with 433…Mhz

Thx

Did you enable the HomeConfort, Fan protocol for receive?

Nope
Not this one. I’ll try.
Do I only need this one ?
Thx

I disconnect from RFXmangr, plugged the RFXtrx433XL back into HA, restarted HA with the config below :

root@oahu:~# dmesg | tail -1
[169869.671875] usb 1-4: FTDI USB Serial Device converter now attached to ttyUSB1
root@oahu:~#
logger:
  default: error
  logs:

    homeassistant.components.rfxtrx: debug

rfxtrx:
  device: /dev/ttyUSB1
  debug: true

switch:
  platform: rfxtrx
  automatic_add: true

I then click on the same button on the remote, nothing in the log, no switch added automatically into HA.

Thx for your help

Without “debug on” you should normally receive a Novy packet.
I suppose the pulse timing is out of the ranges set in the firmware and needs some tuning by RFXCOM.

Check with RFXmngr if you can control your Novy hood using ID = 1

Yes I can control everything in the Fan tab, selecting Novy with ID 1

I didn’t try without the debug,
I will tomorrow to test.

Still nothing after removing debug
How can it works with RFXmng and not in HA ?

You will need an updated firmware to receive your Novy remote.
Please contact support rfxcom.com

@amans I am having similar problems, can send from RFXmanager but received packets are not decoded (I am in contact with rfxcom about this).

But did you ever get this to work, and if so, could you share the ID’s of the buttons in HA? That way I can add them manually.

Thomas

@thomas-be I didn’t had the time to contact rfxcom as suggested by @b_weijenberg.
In one of my previous posta above I wrote everything I’ve done.

I did retry today but still nothing in the logs.
No switch added.

You can’t see the same type of logs than me in rfxmngr when you click a button of the remote ?
I’ve to tick the “undec on” to see the packets.

@amans AFAIK choosing undec_on will not help, you need the decoded messages which only the RFXtrx device can do, not Home Assistant. The Novy remote does not work, probably there is some difference between the timings of different remotes. The developer said he would look into is as soon as he has the time (which I really appreciate). A firmware upgrade will probably be needed.

Thomas

I have a Novy hood. It works through the RFXcom. When I send a signal through the RFXcom-manager, the hood comes on.
The question is now. Can I integrate the Novy cooker hood into Home Assistant? Perhaps this is a question for the designers of Home Assistant. In Domoticz they say that despite the fact that the Novy works via RFXcom, it cannot work in Domoticz because of the very different coding of the signal. Does this also apply to Hassio?
If not, how do I integrate the Novy?

I just contacted rfxcom.
And Bert Weijenberg

@b_weijenberg I suppose it’s you :slight_smile:
I don’t understand.
On this forum, you’re telling me to contact rfxcom, but when I contact them you’re answering to check the forum ? :joy:

What should I do to make it work ?
Perhaps only something I’m not doing correctly ?

Thx

As I told you just by email, this is only the case when Novy could not be controlled using RFXmngr.

As I said in my first post

So… now ?
What am I doing wrong ?
