NPL wifi garage door opener

Hi all, newbie here. Do any of you know anything about this “NPL” brand garage door opener? It popped up on Amazon when I searched “Tuya.”

I actually just bought a Shelly 2.5 and some wired reed switches to control my two garage doors but at $15 each, two of these NPL kits would cost me less and presumably be less hassle.

I’d appreciate any reviews, tips, or caveats emptor.

It is eventually using Tuya as software, brand usually does not matter a lot in these ones.

You might need to use;

  • tuya over cloud
  • localtuya with custom cover setup

In case it’s useful to anybody else I was able to get these working with localtuya. I had to pair them with the Tuya Smart app in order to get the local key with tuya-cli wizard (the manual method without the app didn’t work for me) and then I had to set each up as a separate switch and sensor, then create a template cover to get a garage door entity. This issue thread in the localtuya repo was useful: https://github.com/rospogrigio/localtuya/issues/311 Thanks @anon63427907 for setting me down the right path.
