NUC image - WiFi w/o internet access

This might be 2nd or 3rd time i am writing about this. Neither did i have any luck on the Discord channel  I am running on a NUC (the image formerly known as hass.io). No OS install, just the image installed directly to the NUC.

My experience is that while my NUC is connected via WiFi then i am not able to reach it through internet. If i use cabled connection it works perfectly as expected.

My duckdns stuff is working fine, so is my router and my port forrwarding, also my USB stick with the network settings is all OK. Before ri used this NUC i used a Pi and i never experienced this behaviour. I could switch between cable and WiFi like there was no tomorrow - this also underlines the fact that my setup all in all is correct.

It feels like the “base configuration” (maybe some predefined docker stuff baked into the image) could be misconfigured or something? I tried booting from an Ubuntu stick to see if i could fix this Docker stuff, but i must admit that i have no experience with Docker and thus had a hard time spotting any setting that could be relevant.

  1. Do you run on NUC like mine and have internet through WiFi?
  2. Where can i report this for the ones responsible for this specific image to take a look?
  3. While i boot from my Ubuntu stick, can i install some UI like Portainer or something, so that i can get a better understanding of what really is causing this issue?

Thanks

Why. Won’t you install Ubuntu and hassio on top of it ?

Maybe i should, because my reasons might be stoopid

  • I don’t want to manage an extra “layer” of security, settings, config, whatever
  • I found a “native” image sexier, kinda like i know from my Pi
  • I guess the extra OS takes some resources also
  • I have nothing else i need to run, so i kinda view a full OS underneath kinda bloaty

But it seems that the guys who manages the dedicated NUC image gives a f**k, so i am pretty sure this issue will not be looked into. Which leaves me with two options

  1. Fix it myself
  2. Install that pesky underlying OS even though it really is kinda bloat for what i am doing

there are plenty advantages using an underlying OS i think.
