This summer I expanded my home-assistant setup with automations, energy modules, … I also moved all my philips hue devices from hue to HA Skyconnect. I have a fairly large house with 3 levels and one attic. Furthermore, I set my zigbee network with Hue and Tradfri outlets, so my mesh network is spread out.
First question: I’m correct that Tradfri & Hue outlets act as zigbee repeaters?
I’m also seeing the Hue lights as routers in the visualization page.
Currently, there are 35 devices in my zigbee network. I read somewhere that the recommended number of devices in one network is 35. So my next question:
Do I need to add a new zigbee network now that I have 35 devices?
Finally, I’m seeing one issue with my setup. The problem is currently only with multiple Hue Smart Buttons. After a while they stop working. The weird issue is that after a while they send two events when pressing on the button. One to run the correct automation (as expected) and one that runs a wrong automation (with paramaters attached). After restarting HA it runs the correct automation (one press = on, two presses = off) with only one event detecting. I attached an image of the log:
Usually mains powered devices (bulbs, outlets ++) act as routers, yes.
35 is not a limit, you do not need a new network. I have 68 devices my self (on another stick but I expect the SkyConnect to be able to handle that easy).
Because I have a child that spams the buttons to enable the outlets for the tv. There is no indicator that the outlet is on so he presses it always one time.
I have had the same problem with my hue buttons (remotes). It is usually when they are low on battery that they act like that… if the number is anything less than 25% in HA dont trust it! Just try and replace the battery and see if it is more stable.
Hmm but all of my remotes at the same time? And restarting the VM HA causes them to work again. I’ll change the batteries but it would surprise me. They are 100% according to HA.
Moving most of my lights away from smart outlets (which disconnected the power) + changing the channel to 25 seems to fix the Hue Smart Button problem.
