NUT mini wont stop beeping

Hi all.

Not really HA specific but im hoping someone has come across this before.

I have 2x NUT minis attached to my garage bins, connected to an esp32 in HA. I am notoriously forgetful about putting the bins out, so this was to solve that problem.

One of them constantly keeps and kills the battery within about 12 hours. For the life of me, i just cannot work out why, or how to make it stop.

Anyone got an ideas ?

I use them for tracking our ‘home’ status. But I’ve never hade one beep ever. You could try to connect with it from a phone with the app. Maybe you can see something like an errorcode? The other solution might be to remove the piezo speaker from it. One of mine fell and broke. The piezo came out and I didn’t put it back while glueing it back together. But the nut works fine without it.

Thats not a bad thing to try if i cant work it out – will keep it in mind. Ill replace the battery later this week and see if i can get it to pair with the app.

I tried last night but it wouldnt actually connect, which made me wonder if its related, or maybe just the battery had gotten quite low by that point.

I have two Nut Minis that I was using for presence detection. Each one will randomly beep for no reason at all, different sounding beeping at different times, unrelated timing in relation to each other, completely intermittent. Usually the beeping stops by itself, but I have also had the beeping that won’t stop until I pull the battery, as you describe. I’ve stopped using them altogether—replaced them with iBeacons that have no sound capabilities.
