Hoping somebody can clarify something for me please?
I have a couple of UPS’s each connected to a Raspberry PI via USB and I’m using NUT to monitor those. All of which works well.
I would like to integrate these into HA and I found the NUT integration to do this … or so I thought. However what I am totally confused about is the integration vs addon discussions I have seen.
My understanding is the NUT install on my Raspberry PI’s are set as Net server and therefore the NUT integration is the add on that talks to the Raspberry.
However I then find there are 3 NUT install options from HA … One in the settings/integrations , another in the add on section and a third on the NUT github page.
So which way round is it? does the add on talk to the NUT server and the integration use the add on … or am I missing something here. Because I have no idea how to configure the add on and when I run the integration it asks for localhost/port / user /password and I’ve tried all combinations including he use of the unexplained a0d7b954-nut and it still says failed to connect.
I’m ok at the NUT install on the raspberry as that appears to be setup and working as per various NUT pages I’ve seen , but open to suggestions just in case its not.
So can somebody please clarify how this hangs together as its costing me a fortune in paracetamol
Then make sure the ports are open on your pi’s running the nut software. Verify that you can access the pi over that port from something other than HA to rule out HA being the problem.
Thank you Petro … a quick telnet proved it couldn’t communicate , so slight change to upsd.conf and it working .
Now the big question … I have 2 UPS devices on separate NUT servers ( on PI’s) can I or how do I add a second integration in HA or can I add a second device to the one integration of NUT?
Funny enough, I nut with HA too. You just need the integration where you’ll enter the IP address of your nut server, and of course the nut server needs to have been configured with a password that you can give to HA when you set up the integration.
