Offline backup possible?

 Hello!

So I made a decision the other day to move my HA datadisk from the internal eMMC of a Beelink mini PC as the lifetime was hitting 90+% and I had pretty much filled it. I chose to move it to a 128GB SanDisk Ultra USB 3.2 gen 2 drive; I’ve used one for a RPi 4 HAOS install before and it worked fine so I thought it’d be fine here too.

Once I did though, I discovered that the USB 3.0 port on this mini PC… is not attached to the USB 3.0 bus. So it’s running at 480Mbps… and this is, naturally, not ideal for Home Assistant.

So I gave up and got a different mini PC which has a proper SATA SSD built in.

The issue I’m now facing: I’m trying to move the Home Assistant OS backup over which naturally means I need a full backup. One has now been running for 18 hours.

Is there a way to either:

  • run an offline backup from a machine which can actually use the USB 3 speed?
  • mount that datadisk on the new PC and move it back to the internal drive?

Thank you
