Noob here. I have unsuccessfully searched the HA forums and could not find the details I need.
I have an ancient Omni IIe that has served well for my HA needs. However, it’s time to move along piece by piece. I chose to implement HAOS on an HP 400 G9 miniPC and as long as I use the HA app from any device, the OmniLink and MQTT work fine and can successfully turn ON and OFF ALL my X-10 lights. However, I want further integration into the Apple Home App such that I can command Siri in my HomePod to turn those same lights on and off. Unfortunately, Apple thinks it’s turning on and off lights, but nothing actually happens.
Not too surprising a few rounds with the Artificial Stupidity Software and I get help that does not work, either. I’m sure someone at some point has tried the same thing but it may be so old it’s archived. I’ve been told that Omnilink sets all X-10 devices to light and checking what I can see, that appears true. Apple then tries to dim them as part of the on/off routine and Omni can’t handle the information so nothing happens.
I was first told that all I needed to do was edit in HA the entity “light.omnilink_A12_kit” to “switch.omnilink_…” and all would be well. No, that does not work. Next, I was told to go program a “helper” and was given some YAML code that didn’t look like a proper solution, either.
I was hoping to find a Blueprint or some link to code that someone may have done before to get Apple to see a switch instead of a light. Or some way for it to stop trying to be fancy and let me just have OFF and ON control of the X-10 lights.
I appreciate the help, and if I need to provide more information about the exact settings, components and connections, please ask.
