On fatal config error HA UI will show (at least) the log

Sometimes I make a mistake in my config and didn’t remember to “validate config” in the UI before a HA restart.
In this case, after the restart the HA UI will not open at all.
The config error reason is shown in the log.
I think that that the UI simply not loading with a 1 line typo in config is really quite unacceptable - especially now with hass.io where we’re moving toward “appliance” type application.
It would be much much nicer to start in “safe mode” and at very least visualise the log.
Can this be done?

My ideal scenario, based on being a hass.io user if that’s relevant, would be to revert to a ‘safe version’ of the config that would need to do nothing more than display the log in front end to see what went wrong and allow access to @danielperna84’s HASS configurator which I now use almost exclusively to change the config…other than when the front end is broken
