On Windows reboot--how to get HAOS to shutdown & Windows to wait?

I have an HAOS guest running in Windows Virtualbox. When Windows automatically restarts, such as patch updates, how do I get Windows to trigger the VM to shutdown and have Windows wait for the VM shutdown to be complete before rebooting?

I read that if the VM is run as a service, Windows will wait. I used Task Scheduler to start the VM before log in, but when I manually reboot, Windows reboots immediately without any wait time.

By the way, I would like to run the HA VM in GUI (as opposed to headless) mode so I can interact with it when necessary.

There is a lot of different information out there, but none has worked. I would appreciate some tips on how to get this done.

Thanks.

Thanks. I used that exact method, but Windows reboots without waiting. I’ve also read that there is simply no solution because Windows does not give VMs enough time to shutdown and forces a reboot anyway. Is this true?

The issue is with Windows update. I guess I can disable Windows update if needed, but it would be nice to just have a graceful VM shutdown when reboot is needed from the udpate.

The best solution would be to not use Windows as a server OS.
