Documenting a configuration issue I ran into when setting up my Onkyo Receiver on Home Assistant. I could see the receiver on the network but HASS would time out when trying to communicate with it. I found the solution in this post Fix Onkyo App and Home Assistant Not Connecting to Onkyo Receiver. The issue is caused by the network name of the receiver. In my case I needed to change it from TX-NR838 to TXNR838 dropping the hyphen. I made this change on my router but believe you can also do it from the receiver’s web interface or receiver itself depending on model.
