ONVIF integration - almost there, but can't get video

I’m using the ONVIF integration for the first time. I’ve set up ONVIF integration and it has found my camera, and I used the UI to setup a card in Lovelace for it. Trouble is, I see only a still image, not video, and the bar at the bottom says “Idle”. Before setting up the integration, I’ve set up ffmpeg (3.4.6) in my configuration.yaml.
I think I’m almost there, but I’m a bit lost now as to how to troubleshoot it. All help welcome, please.

I’m running HA 112.4 on an Intel NUC (Supervised on Linux Mint with docker). The camera is an Escam PVR008. It’s working fine in the app on my mobile phone. FWIW, I installed ffmpeg direct on the Linux Mint OS, I don’t know whether that is significant.

@AndrewJ Also almost there. Was able to set up the ONVID integration:

but I don’t see any entity created… How did you set up card / with what entity?

Hi, My memory of it has faded a bit, but as far as I remember I followed these steps…

  1. Installed the camera and set it up using the chinese app for Escam
  2. Installed the Onvifer app on my Android phone and got the camera working in that.
  3. Experimented with the MotionEye add-on in HA and after some trial and error, and searching on this forum and elsewhere for config details, got that working. I think it was about this point that I found I needed to reduce the picture quality and frame rate to get it to display.
4, Added the ONVIF integration through the UI of Homeassistant. As far as I can remember, it found my camera automatically and created an entity for it. It offered to create a card in Lovelace and I accepted the offered option. I think I may have had to play around with settings a bit more at that point to get video to show. (I think at about this point I saw a suggestion to install the “stream” component and added that, but I’m not sure whether that is strictly necessary.)

Hope this helps, sorry I can’t be more specific. (Wish I’d made notes!!!)

The above is the good news - the camera was showing video in HA and MotionEye, and continued for several weeks, but HA has stopped showing anything since I had to restart my complete home network a few days ago - I haven’t had time to investigate further yet.
