Open source software - WiFi attentuation floor plan

Hi,

I am currently looking for a software (does Home Assistant have this feature?) to allow you to place WiFi antennas and modems around a custom floor plan and to check the signal strength around the home. I’m hoping that the WiFi coverage etc can be customisable and that we can create walls (of varying materials) to attentuate the signal.

Ubiquiti appear to have this through their UniFi Design Center (mock setup) but it is only relevant to their device product range.

Wondering if anyone knows an open source program that exists that allows something similar or if Home Assistant provides this feature?

Cheers.

Heads up: Valetudo vacuums support an add-on that can create a Wi-Fi signal map of a home.

Thanks. I’m after something that we can do signal strength estimates by building a floor plan and placing devices. Afterwards, we would do something that checks if they are align via a real-life test. Are there any prep work heatmap software that you may know?

ESPHome devices can have a wifi signal sensor added to their YAML that reports the strength s frequently as you tell the device to.

You can use that to build a signal strength map for $5.
