Openplantbook : ... is not a valid add-on repository

hello,

I’m trying to add openplantbook as a custom repository in my add-on menu, but get following error :

GitHub - Olen/home-assistant-openplantbook: Integration to search and fetch data from Openplantbook.io is not a valid add-on repository”

I use a supervised version :

Home Assistant 2023.10.1
Supervisor 2023.10.0
Operating System 10.5
Frontend 20231005.0 - latest

Because that’s not an add-on, but an integration

When the docs there refer to HACS they mean https://hacs.xyz/

It’s an integration, not an add-on.

See Tips and Tricks | Home Assistant Developer Docs on how to add custom integrations.

ok,
I understand now that this is not an add-on.
In the instructions it says the following :

  • Click HACS in your Home Assistnat
  • Click Integrations
  • Click the 3 dots in the top right corner and select “Custom Repositories”
  • Add the URL to this github repository and category “Integration”

But I do not find the HACS in my home assistant, so this means I do not have the correct HA installed?
if so this means I have to add it manually?

If I have to add it manually it says :

  • Copy the wholecustom_components/openplantbook/ directory to your server’s <config>/custom_components directory

but under my config directory I do not see the “custom_components” directory :frowning:

Please help this newby setup this integration please

You need to install hacs https://hacs.xyz/

Because, as has been said already, you have to install HACS.

You can create it you know

thanks
I’ll get started with installing HACS first.

I thought with all the different HA installations you do not have the ability to use HACS or add “custom_components” if it doesn’t exist as a directory

ok,

I finally got HACS installed and I was able to install the OpenPlantBook.
But now it says that I should open the configuration of the OpenPlantbook, but I do not find this page anywhere.

Any help is apreciated

You read https://github.com/Olen/home-assistant-openplantbook#set-up?

Yes and that is indeed the step in where I’m stuck.
I do not find that panel.

What panel?

I mean this one : options openplantbook

Edit : found the solution. After installation I still needed to add the integration :

“Settings” → “Devices and services” and click “Add integration”.
Search for “Plant” to set up a new plant

After this I saw the options panel
