Opentherm Questions

Hi Guys

Sorry to post a list of questions, but I have not seen any sensible all in one reference or source of answers., and indeed some contradictory statements along the way.

I have a traditional system boiler which I want to upgrade with an opentherm model. I do not want to move to combi.

Q1 - Can opentherm still work when I have separate zones for water and radiators? Several systems, Hive for example (I am using now) state that only combi work - however this may be a Hive product limitation.

Q2 - I have ordered a DIYLESS opentherm gateway and intend to use it with Tasmota. If the gateway is down, (powered off) does the heating fail to work or does it have some form of bypass?

Q3 - Am I right in assuming that I can use the gateway to monitor the heating only and leave the control to the room stat?

Q3 - What happens to the tank thermotat for the hot water with OpenTherm? Does this need some form of Opentherm “switch” to allow more than one thermostat to be commented - one for room temps and one for water?

Q4 - I am assuming that you cannot connect multiple opentherm thermostats in parallel - i.e. they dont all have individual IDs on the two wire OT bus that can be separately configured? Have I bought the wrong interface/gateway?!?!

Q5 - Heating/Water Timers - I dont want to use HA for the timer functionality for the heating - can I still have that separate and use HA (with gateway) to control as and when an override is required? If HA was to fail, the WAF will go downhill if there is no hot water for the morning shower!

Q6 - When setting up Opentherm, do boilers have a config program to set it all up?

Q7 - Any good websites with detailed references around this stuff?

Thanks in advance for the advice!
