The OpenZWave beta integration is coming along nicely. First signs of some control panels in the UI are visible this release. You can see the status and information of your network and nodes. There are also buttons to put your Z-Wave network in inclusion and exclusion mode and to refresh a node. Thanks @cgarwood!
Not sure what this means yet. I use the “vnc” panel to in and exclude devices and remember having read on various places this is the preferred way of doing so. Thus not by using the button on a stick (aeotec gen5).
I wanted to ask/start a small discussion whether using the announcement in the 0.115 release notes is different/the same as using the vnc way…
The VNC connection is just an web access version of ozw-admin (which you can separately download on your desktop and use). The button on the stick should never be used.
The Add Node and Remove Node buttons have been added to the integration’s control panel for easier inclusion/exclusion from your phone or other mobile devices.
These are notes for the zwave integration, but apply to the ozw integration as well (ignore OZWCP).
Don’t use the OpenZWave control panel (OZWCP), or the physical button on a controller , to add or remove devices. Many devices will only send the information about their capabilities at the time you include them. If you use the OpenZWave control panel, or the button on a device, then Home Assistant won’t have that information. Using the physical button on a controller will also result in a non-security inclusion being performed, which may limit the features the device supports.
