Optimal Proxmox 8 Network config for mDNS/Matter/Multicast?

I’m trying to track down some potential network issues for mDNS with HAOS and Matter. I have HAOS running on a VM on Proxmox 8 with a standard Linux bridge. No VLANs. For months I had IGMP snooping off all of my physical switches, but lately I was seeing mDNS timeout issues in the HA Matter logs.

So I’d like to know if there any insight from a Proxmox 8 host perspective, what’s the optimal network configuration in terms of “linux bridge”, “OVS bridge”, or any other settings to ensure the best mDNS/multicast support for HAOS.

After I know Proxmox 8 is optimal, I can start looking at the switch IGMP snooping config and experiment with those settings.

How is this working out for you?

I am trying to get Matter running. HA OS running in a proxmox vm, but my first device can’t reach the network.

Can you please share your proxmox network configuration or any tips, even if sub-optimal?

There’s nothing to do to make Proxmox networking work with Matter. A vanilla/default Proxmox setup works just fine. Zero tweaks needed.
