Option to push car battery level

I have a Kia Niro PHEV, a Zaptec charger, and a Tibber energy contract. In other words: a perfect combination for letting Tibber control my car charging with Grid Rewards!

However, the car (charger) is in the buildings parking garage where there’s no mobile network coverage. There is wifi (so I can read my Zaptec charger), but the Kia doesn’t have wifi unfortunately.

Now, I created s sensor that tracks the current battery level of my car, based on the last reported level from the Kia Integration and the charge data from the Zaptec integration.

My question is, is there any way to push this sensor’s data to Tibber, so that Tibber has an up to date readout of my car’s battery level?

The only current alternatives I see is to have my own smart charging plan in HA (which I already have) and miss out on Grid Rewards, or to use the ‘stupid’ mode in the Tibber app, where you provide a default setting for your car’s battery state (eg. 20%).

Any help is appreciated!

Hi @jvdburgt

did you ever solve this? im in the same boat as you.

Hi @matrover: Well, not pushing the data to Tibber, so no grid rewards, but at least I managed an as-smart-as-possible charging solution:

I use the “Hyundai / Kia Connect: Force Update” action from the integration, and set it so it fires when two conditions are met:

  1. Me and/or my girlfriend get within 500m of home
  2. The charging-unit is not currently connected

There will be of course some false positives (i.e. when car is in the garage, but not connected), but so far no false negatives, so it suits my purpose quite well.
